Inclusive Education
Inclusive education enables all children and students to learn alongside their similar aged peers. In inclusive schools and preschools, children and students are supported to learn, contribute and participate in all aspects of their learning.
Children and students with disability or complex needs can attend either their local preschool or school or an appropriate specialised education option if they are eligible.
Munno Para Primary School has three specialised education options. Each specialised education option has its own placement process. Recommendations for placement in a specialised education option are made by departmental psychologists and or speech pathologists and are managed by local education offices.
Disability Unit (Reception to Year 2)
Disability units are located within some primary and secondary schools. They provide specialised learning environments where students can be included and learn alongside their similar aged peers. Students access individualised curriculum that provides substantial or extensive adjustments in all learning areas in order to foster increased engagement in their learning.
Special Class (Reception to Year 2)
Special classes are part of a mainstream school and cater for students who require substantial and extensive adjustments to the curriculum. Classes operate inclusively and students have the opportunity to learn alongside their similar-aged peers.
Speech and Language Class (Reception to Year 2)
Speech and language classes are specialist junior primary school programs for students with significant speech, communication or language difficulties.
